SOUTH EAST AHEC at a glance

South East Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC) is a non-profit organization created in 1972 in an effort to bring medical care services into rural communities. SEAHEC collaborates with local and regional partners, including area health systems, county governments and agencies, community partners, and colleges and school systems, to fulfill its mission. SEAHEC is a department of New Hanover Regional Medical Center and part of the NC AHEC Program. Affiliated with the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, SEAHEC oversees residency programs, medical student education, and student rotations.

MISSION

The mission of the South East Area Health Education Center is to lead the communities in the five-county service area to outstanding health by providing education, clinical training, and information resources for health and human service personnel.
